f.lux automatically adjusts your screen color based on the time of day

F.lux is an app for Mac OS X that automatically adjusts your screen color and brightness based on the time of day. I have been using this app for a couple of days now, and I’m really liking it. The first time you fire it up at night, it takes some getting used to the warmer colors, but after a while you get used to it. When you turn f.lux off again, you really notice how much more comfortable the warmer colors are at night.

And the best part? F.lux is available for free!

Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow? Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?

During the day, computer screens look good—they’re designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or 3AM, you probably shouldn’t be looking at the sun.

f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
